Adobe Illustrator CS3 bug (Now with picture!)

Journal Entry: Wed Apr 23, 2008, 7:50 AM
So far, it only seems to happen on PCs, not Macs... tried it on both, but it seems to happen quite consistantly on all PCs tried. I'm kinda curious if anyone knows anything about it or if they themselves can reproduce the same bug. ^_^

In the layers palette, create a new group inside a layer. Then click in the tiny space inbetween the > arrow to expand the layer and the thumbnail next to it.

That's it.

It crashes Illustrator, right? It's just that tiny space too. If you click to the left, it expands the group, if you click to the right, it selects the group. If you manage to click and it neither expands or selects the group, it simply crashes.

Weird huh?

Lulu.com books?

Journal Entry: Fri Apr 18, 2008, 9:31 PM
A lot of people are doing them, so I'm actually considering doing one myself. Since my father passed away, I've been in a bit of an art funk and I think this would help me, as a tribute of my artwork to him.

It'll be probably about 100 pages or so, 60 or so would just be reprints of my existing works but I'll fill the remainder with new artwork. I'm curious what people would prefer:

1. New "never seen before" drawings
2. New "never seen before" photographs
3. New "never seen before" photomanipulations
4. Tutorials
5. More than one or all of the above (give me a rough breakdown of percentages?)

I'd probably sell it cheap. I'm doing it primarily as a tribute for my dad, so I'm thinking maybe $30-35 dollars. Do you think that sounds reasonable? Would you pay more? Should I make it cheaper? How many people would actually be interested?

More bodypainting!

So the second of my 4 elemental spirits is done: Genbu, the tortise turtle gamera.

I also have videos of that set posted on my YouTube. ^_^

I'm curious, I never know what to ask the models to do while painted... it's hard to come up with anything "fitting". Anyone have any ideas?

Working with models question:

Journal Entry: Fri Feb 29, 2008, 8:41 PM
I'm curious, this is a question for all the artists who work with models.

If your work with a model is potentially risky and could cause them harm, it's only natural you explain to them what you're doing and the risks involved. If you're gonna get them nude and standing in the snow, they could catch hypothermia or a cold. If you photograph them standing in a field, a tick could bite them and they could catch lyme disease. It's just the inherient problem with any risk.

What caused the wank was this: the "professional" bodypainters said that using acrylics in bodypainting is dangerous and I was being willfully and grossly negligent by doing so. I explained acrylics was only one of the materials I used. I used both FDA and non FDA approved stuff because I use whatever materials I can to get a visual look. I've used latex, baby oil, aluminum powder, gold foil, plaster, plants, ribbon, etc. Not all of those can even possibly be FDA approved.

That's where the wank began. All the professionals said I was endangering the models by using non FDA approved stuff. But I was arguing that there's plenty of FDA approved stuff that can harm people. Not being FDA approved doesn't mean it's harmful, it just means they haven't checked it to see if it's harmful.

So here's where I'm going with this. I was trying to explain that the best course of action was to know the risks, cover those risks with the model, do an allergy test, and have them sign a release. They all insisted that I was "wrong". I should only stick to FDA stuff or I'm not "a real professional".

What do other "professionals" think?
