Fleece should work too, though it might be heavier. :)

Ah, you see the red band around the hat? I made that stretchy and thin so I can see through that :)

I just finished the wiring and now I need to get together my fabric. Gonna reuse my golden fleece and I'm either going to cut up an old t-shirt or buy some red fleece. The circumference of the outer circle of wire is slightly wider than my shoulders. XD My brothers are gonna be so proud of me when they see what I've made!

I hard to find a hot glue because I do not have it, is there any other tool that can be used?
I wanted to ask you something, are you glue the wire with the tool or tied up as usual?
are you ever make a magic wand vivi?
sorry if the english words is fall apart .

I'm gonna use that as a help to make another hat ( remember Stan form Monkey Island by any chance...? eah. Will cosplay him.). It will be a bi different, but this is really a great help, thanks a lot! =)

LOL, if you do Stan from Monkey Island, are you gonna keep flailing your arms about too? :)

Good luck! I'd buy a boat from you :)

That sounds so fun, I'd go as Guybrush Threepwood. Probably the one from Monkey Island 2, I like his big blue coat, I could hide things in it :)

I will definitely make one of these and wear it in public. 8D But I want to figure out a way to make it move like it did in the game . . . I'll do that later. Thanks for the awesome tutorial though!

Yay! I'd offer to give you mine, it's sitting in my shed collecting dust. Maybe spiders too. :) It probably wouldn't fit either. =/

You should take it out and wear it randomly. XD It's fun~

When I make this (in a really long time X_X), I want to make it a bit tighter, so it won't look so wrinkly.

Hello all right?
My name is Kássia and live in Brazil.
I am part of a site called CosplayBrasil (www.cosplaybr.com.br)
and lately our site goes a bit scarce in tutorials to cosplay.
I would ask you for permission to translate to Portuguese
the tutorial that you produced and put this tutorial on the site for others
people can see it. I will give you the proper credits of course

Now thank

Hmm.. is this the same hat concept as your Vivi costume worn at Akon 12?

Think I was cosplaying Dr Tofu that year... my one and only time to cosplay... hehe... think our friend was Dorothy from Big O. ;)

Long time, no see. Welcome back! ^_^
Thanks for the tutorial! I'm planning on making a Vampire Hunter D-style hat, and Steps 1-6 should prove immensely helpful!

This is REALLY interesting. Have you tried using a thin foam on the rim before you put the felt/fabric on for the brim? It should cover up the wire lines. :D

Never considered it but it's a good idea. It's something I threw together a week before a con, so I didn't spend much time on it ^_^

It's just a thought. At least it's a good idea for future wire-based projects! :D

I still think it's freaking adorable. :)
