This was a tribal black light bodypaint design done representing the phoenix. I was inspired partially by the 4 spirits represented by the phoenix, dragon, tiger, and turtle and I hope to get all 4 done in this way.

And yes, Fushigi Yuugi helped edumacate me on the 4 spirits, Suzaku, Seiryuu, Genbu, and Byakko. :)

The photography wasn't by me, it was by my friend Shaun ([link]) but the painting was done by me at my studio.

Absolutely beautiful work! Did you ever resolve the issue of acrylic paints vs. body paint? Also, what kind of lighting are you shooting this work in - I'm just wondering as the colors jump right off the model and I was wondering if it was ultra-violet, or just subdued, reflected soft white?

Thanks! I still wanna use you as a model for stuff someday ^_~
Nope, the issue was never resolved so I decided to let sleeping dogs lay.

The lighting was actually all UV. I got some black vinyl and blacked out my studio and set up a rig with 4 blacklight tubes to illuminate her ^_^
this just blows my mind..........not that its that hard to blow but still

I'll take that as a compliment. Thanks!
